WATER COMMITTEE (Inaugurated August 2020)
Water is life, and a community without reliable access to clean water cannot thrive. The Amuvi Water Supply network, installed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in 2010, once served our village, but years of neglect left it in disrepair. The Water Committee of the Amuvi Development Group (ADG) has taken up the challenge of restoring and maintaining this vital resource. Through persistent effort and community-driven solutions, we are working to ensure that every household in Amuvi has access to safe and sustainable water—because the well-being of our people depends on it.

MISSION
Access to clean and reliable water is essential for the well-being of our community. This committee is dedicated to ensuring a sustainable water future by addressing critical infrastructure challenges and fostering responsible water use. Our mission includes:
- Rehabilitating and upgrading aging water infrastructure to improve the efficiency and reliability of water delivery systems.
- Promoting water conservation and sustainability through education, awareness campaigns, and active community engagement.
By prioritizing these efforts, we aim to secure a long-term, resilient water system that meets the needs of present and future generations.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Through strategic efforts and community-driven initiatives, AWADA-ADG has made significant progress in improving water infrastructure and ensuring a more reliable water supply. Our key accomplishments include:
- Repairing the backflow issue at the pump discharge at the wellhead, preventing further environmental damage.
- Procuring two new pumps to replace damaged units and restoring a third pump that had been out of service.
- Procuring and installing new sola system to improve energy supply to the plant
- Servicing the water filtration system, enhancing water quality and efficiency.
- Repairing leakages and rust on the community water tank, followed by a full internal repainting to improve durability and performance.
These achievements reflect our commitment to infrastructure sustainability and providing safe, reliable water for the community. We remain dedicated to further improvements and long-term solutions.
CHALLENGES
While significant progress has been made in improving the water supply system since 2020, several critical challenges remain. Addressing these issues is essential to ensure long-term functionality and sustainability.
- Establishing an effective maintenance team to handle ongoing repairs and prevent further deterioration of the water supply system.
- Carrying out necessary repairs and upkeep around the wellhead to maintain operational efficiency.
- Expanding the water distribution network to ensure reliable access for all households in and around the village.
Overcoming these challenges will require continued investment, strategic planning, and community collaboration to build a more resilient and efficient water infrastructure.
